Weeks 94, 95, and 96: Russia advances across the frontline

Avdiivka

Russia has continued its heavy attacks on the flanks of Avdiivka. While the line has largely held over the past 3 weeks in the north, Russia was able to successfully advance near Pervomaiske on the southern flank.

Last week, President Zelenskyy made a visit to defenders in the city, recording a video out in the open, less than 2km from the nearest known Russian positions.

Bakhmut

Russia continued to reclaim control of the territory west of Bakhmut that they had lost during Ukraine’s offensives around the City, earlier in the year. Retajubg the trench network on the road into Bakhmut as well as the outskirts on the southwestern edge.

North of Bakhmut the Russian forces took position on the northern edge of Bohdanivka, while south of the city they attacked the fortifications on the hill above Klishchiivka.

Marinka

Russia has successfully captured the remaining sectors of Marinka on the north bank of the reservoir. The whole settlement is now under their control.

South of Marinka, Russia has carried out a series of attacks over the past months on Novomykhailivka, pushing Ukrainian defenders back to the edge of the settlement.

Robotyne

Around Robotyne, Ukraine’s focus for the mid-2023 offensive, Russia has been able to recapture positions southeast of the town which Ukraine had secured during their counteroffensive.

Elsewhere on the front

Russia has advanced along the rail line between the settlements of Vesele and Berestove.

Russia has carried out heavy attacks on the settlement of Synkivka in recent weeks. So far, Ukraine has been able to prevent them from capturing or securing a foothold in the settlement.

Russian forces carried out an attack in the Kreminna forest, putting some forward Ukrainian positions at risk.
